According to research, nearly three-quarters of high net worth people believe having philanthropic conversations with their advisor (be it attorney, CPA, financial planner, etc.) is important and prefer the topic arise sooner than later in meetings. Many desire more discussion around personal values and charitable goals. The majority of advisors who do this say it’s improved their business. Nonprofit gift planners also look for ways to be more donor-centric, knowing that stronger relationships with donors are what matters long-term to most benefit their organization.
This program will highlight the free, step-by-step philanthropy toolkit from the Stanford Center on Philanthropy & Civil Society (PACS), including doing some of the introspective exercises at the session. We’ll also look at some of the research done by The U.S. Trust Study of the Philanthropic Conversation and additional resources to deepen relationships with our clients and donors. To paraphrase PACS, you’ll leave with practical tools to enhance how you engage in thoughtful conversations, how you help more effective charitable giving and how to anchor philanthropy around what most deeply inspires someone. Our presenter, Michele Brock, MBA, CFRE, is board member of EIPGC and executive director of the Catholic Foundation in the Archdiocese of Dubuque. She has more than 27 years of fundraising and marketing experience.
